BHO stands for Butane Honey Oil – a cannabis concentrate extracted using butane as a solvent. It is one of the most well-known extracts and forms the basis for many consistencies used in dabbing.

How is BHO made?

During production, butane is passed through the plant material, dissolving the active ingredients and aromatic compounds. The solvent is then removed, leaving behind a highly concentrated extract. Important: Production with butane is highly dangerous and should only be carried out by professional, industrial entities – not in your own kitchen. Legally, self-production is prohibited in many places.

What consistencies are there?

  • Shatter – glass-like and hard.
  • Wax – soft and waxy.
  • Budder – creamy, buttery.
  • Crumble – crumbly, dry.

The form that results depends on temperature, humidity, and post-processing.

How is BHO consumed?

BHO is usually dabbed – meaning it is vaporized on a hot banger and inhaled through an oil rig. Due to its high concentration, a very small amount is sufficient.

Frequently asked questions

Significantly – the active ingredient content is many times higher. Dose accordingly small.

How do I recognize clean BHO?
By its purity and origin. Solvent residues are a quality problem – reputable manufacturing tests for them.
