A carb hole with a rubber stopper is a variation of the classic carb hole, where the side hole is sealed with a removable rubber stopper. Instead of covering the hole with your finger, you pull out the stopper at the right moment.
How does it work?
When pulling, the stopper remains in the carb hole, and the chamber fills with smoke. At the right moment, you pull out the rubber stopper – fresh air flows in and quickly pushes the smoke upwards. Afterwards, you reinsert the stopper. The principle is the same as with a classic carb hole, just with a stopper instead of a finger.
The advantages
- Tightly sealed – no finger needed, the hole is completely closed.
- Defined draw – the stopper sits firmly until you pull it.
- Clean – no contact of fingers with the hole.
Carb hole with stopper or classic?
With a classic carb hole, you regulate with your finger, which is quick and direct. With a rubber stopper, the hole is tightly sealed until you pull the stopper – some find this more comfortable and cleaner. Both variations reliably control the draw.
Frequently asked questions
Is a rubber stopper easily lost?
It sits firmly in the hole. As a wear part, it can harden over time and is then replaced.
Is the stopper heat resistant?
It sits at the carb hole, not directly at the heat source – good material can easily withstand this.
Can I replace a rubber stopper?
Yes, suitable stoppers are available as inexpensive spare parts.
