Bubble Hash is a solventless concentrate produced using ice water and fine sieves. The name comes from the fact that high-quality bubble hash bubbles and melts when heated. It is considered a clean, natural way to separate the active ingredients from the plant.
How is Bubble Hash made?
The plant material is agitated in ice-cold water. The cold makes the trichomes – i.e., the resin – brittle and causes them to break off. The water is then filtered through several progressively finer sieve bags (Bubble Bags) that collect the resin particles by size. What remains is pure resin, which, once dried, becomes bubble hash.
Why "solventless"?
No solvents are used in bubble hash – only water, ice, and agitation. This makes it one of the cleanest extraction methods, without the dangers and residues of solvent-based processes like BHO. The Rosin method, using heat and pressure, works similarly cleanly.
How to recognize good Bubble Hash?
By its melting behavior: High-quality bubble hash melts cleanly and bubbles up when heated – ideally Full Melt. Inferior material contains more plant residue and leaves behind residues. The color ranges from light to golden brown.
Frequent Questions
Is Bubble Hash the same as Kief?
Related, but not the same. Kief is dry flower dust; bubble hash is made with ice water and is usually purer.
Why is it called Bubble Hash?
Because good material bubbles and melts when heated.
Is Bubble Hash safely produced?
Without solvents, the method is significantly safer than solvent-based processes.
How is Bubble Hash consumed?
It can be dabbed, vaporized, or used pure – high-quality material is well-suited for dabbing.
What are Bubble Bags?
The fine sieve bags that collect the resin particles by size during filtering.
